Another Salvation Time advancement concerns pop culture and in particular, cinema. The character I used to explain the changes is no doubt a very familiar name since he’s one of the most successful Hollywood film directors in history: Steven Spielberg. As with Charles Manson, it’s Spielberg’s descendant in 2412 who explains the difference between End Days and Salvation Days film production during the Step One’s history exam:
“First, tell us Mr. Spielberg, what was the role of the filmmaking industry as controlled by Hollywood in the United States during the End Days, compared to its current role now in Salvation Days?”
“Well sir, like Henry Kissinger said, during the End Days there was really no difference between Hollywood celebrities and politicians. Both groups were ruled by the self-directed big ego. They piled up obscene amounts of money while they kept people in the dark about what was really going on in the world. Joseph Stalin told us about his ancestor who made propaganda films to trick Russian peasants into believing he was leading them into a new dawn of prosperity when it was really the opposite. He was using cinema like a weapon against them in his quest for domination.
“During the 20th century Joseph Stalin said, ‘America is like a healthy body and its resistance is threefold: its patriotism, its morality, and its spiritual life. If we can undermine these three areas, America will collapse from within.’ Making movies was one of the best ways to do it because you couldembed the indoctrination in entertainment. And people wouldn’t even know what was happening. Back in the 1930s when Ronald Reagan was an actor he saw what was going on and he started to fight back against the communist takeover of Hollywood. In the 1950s Senator Joseph McCarthy investigated and found evidence of communist infiltration within the United States government. Some saw Reagan and McCarthy as patriots but many saw them as crazy conspiracy nuts.”
The student paused for a moment before picking up on his teacher’s nonverbal cue to continue.
“But now in Salvation Time the filmmaking industry promotes our worldwide system of positive capitalism. Instead of turning people who do bad things into ‘anti-heroes’ or victims of an ‘unfair’ system, it tells stories of everyday people who do good things for others through their service. It produces films that inspire, educate and uplift because Salvation Time cinema wants audiences to be inspired to do these things in the real world. The goal is to encourage them to imitate the examples of ordinary heroism and honor they see on the big screen.
“Instead of covering up truth and promoting excessive immorality, those who work in the film industry now make a good living by producing virtuous movies that people really want to see. And it’s ok to make films that portray a positive image of God and those who worship him. During the End Days, most believers were portrayed as crazy.
“So in Salvation Time, creating cinema is all about doing the right thing even though it’s tough. It’s courage over fear, service over self-centeredness.”
Later on in the dialogue comes a slightly controversial interaction involving one of Spielberg’s most acclaimed movies. One of my beta readers took exception to my characterization of Schindler’s List but I stand by my opinion and welcome readers to comment in the thread after this post if they wish to debate it.
“Now for your bonus question, what was your ancestor’s role in all of the Hollywood propaganda during the End Days?”
Spielberg transitioned from euphoria to disappointment because he knew his grade hinged upon total honesty in telling the story of his shameful ancestor. This guy had been one of the most fêted men in Hollywood who’d amassed a fortune by promoting lies and hiding the truth in his well-received films. Still, the student was aware that coming clean was the best way to aid in the process of restoring the Spielberg family name so he set about making his confession in front of his teachers and classmates.
“Sir, my ancestor Steven Spielberg was one of the most successful, adored and wealthiest filmmakers in Hollywood during the End Days, even though his movies were filled with propaganda and lies. Take his popular film Schindler’s List. Spielberg insisted that the movie be filmed in black and white so he could whitewash evil. He didn’t want to ‘offend’ anyone by accurately portraying Nazi crimes against the innocent. Considering that Spielberg was also a Jew, this was even more disgusting. But his main motivation was money. He didn’t want to risk losing a fat paycheck for honestly telling the story of Jewish oppression by socialist Nazis who blindly obeyed a madman.
“So that’s why my family was expedited to Arusha after the Armageddon Commission—to begin to make up for the sins of our ancestor Steven Spielberg, a man who valued money and fame over truth. He makes me very ashamed.”
Again, there’s much more to this answer than what I’ve published here so when you read the book you can expect greater detail. In the Salvation Time movie industry it’s not the actors who get the most money and fame but the people who finance the films and the diligent behind-the-scenes workers who make it all possible. People like camera and boom operators, make-up artists and engineers. During the course of his personal and spiritual development in the novel, the student Spielberg will face more than a few moral dilemmas requiring him to use his free will for either good or evil. You’ll have to buy the book to find out what he chooses.
I found this excellent recreation of King Herod’s Temple, which is the model for The Temple Mount of the One God Religion in Steps To Salvation. In Step Three, Mr. Bauer and the 2412 graduates of the Race Unity Regional High School will visit The Temple Mount of the One God Religion where they’ll discover The Rock of Abraham, The Arc of the Covenant, The Twelve Commandments and The Twelve Holidays.
From author Daniella Bova:
I was captivated by this fictional story, which incorporates world history into the author’s ideas for bringing people to the point of actually coexisting on earth, rather than just giving lip service to the idea of treating others with tolerance.
To begin, author Shlomo Attia’s life story is interesting in itself. Mr. Attia, an engineer by trade, describes his life as young boy in Tel Aviv, Israel, where he was raised in a traditional Jewish home. He goes on to describe various periods of his life, including attending a religious school, living on an Israeli kibbutz, and serving in the Israeli Defense Forces.
After relocating to Florida, Mr. Attia was involved in a serious motorcycle accident. He spent over a month in a coma. During this time, Mr. Attia had what is commonly known as a near death experience. After his recovery, he felt compelled to let other people know what he had learned during his near death experience, including ideas for living in peace in harmony no matter our differences.
In Steps To Salvation I learned a great deal about history. The book opens in the year 2412 in Africa, many years after a worldwide upheaval, “The Armageddon War.” The main characters are all fictional descendants of historical figures from the past and present day, including Adolph Hitler, Charles Manson, Hillary Clinton, George W. Bush and Debbie Wasserman Schultz.
The characters are vividly written. They’re so true to life that I found myself laughing out loud during certain scenes containing the fictional future descendant of President Bill Clinton. In addition to laughing, parts of what I learned made me extremely angry. This book was painstakingly researched. It included facts about world leaders of which I was unaware, even though I’m reasonably up to date on current events as a rule.
Another reader mentioned that Steps to Salvation would be a very good choice for a book club. I agree. Many people of different faiths and backgrounds could find plenty to discuss. Mr. Attia’s ideas are sometimes a bit surprising. I can’t say I agree with every single point he made, but I can and do respect anyone who’s been through a near death experience. Mr. Attia’s ideas for the betterment of society were incorporated in a fresh, engaging way in the Steps To Salvation.
In closing, this book made me laugh out loud more than once. It also brought me almost to the point of tears. I’ve decided that any book that makes me laugh and cry deserves a five star rating.
Last night, I made a presentation at Books and Books in Coral Gables. Although the crowd was small, everyone was very engaged and asked good questions. I also had an 80% success rate in terms of sales. Not bad!

For many readers, especially the devoutly religious, the concept of reincarnation in my novel might be problematic. Although I’ve always questioned my own traditional Jewish upbringing, it wasn’t until my experience of “crossing over” to the other side following my motorcycle accident that I realized God truly did set up souls to incarnate over countless lifetimes. The purpose behind it is to give the soul multiple opportunities to grow closer to God and advance with each new lifetime. Before being born, a soul chooses the circumstances of his or her life including sex, race, sexual orientation, country, family, health challenges, money issues and just about everything that affects material existence. Yes, we also have free will. Which means we also have the ability to rise above these circumstances. As human personalities and mind-beings, we’re not allowed to remember everything our souls have chosen to experience in a particular lifetime — at least not consciously.
Because if we already knew everything, there would be no chance to learn, grow and move ahead in our spiritual development.
That’s why legitimate practices like Past Life Regression Therapy can be very helpful. We have the God-given tools to aid us in our spiritual development which includes learning how to confront evil and choose courage over fear as Eyal Grad’s grandfather explains in Step Two during a discussion about Hitler and the Nazis:
“Saba, how could God approve something so diabolical and wicked?” Eyal asked incredulously. “As you yourself stated, these victims were innocent people. Why did God allow Hitler and his minions to commit massive genocide?”
“Well Eyal, from your perspective I can understand how it appears that way. And yes, what the Nazis perpetrated on earth was pure evil; there is no argument about that. However, you must also remember that before they were born into their earthly bodies, the souls of those the Nazis terrorized purposely selected this mission on earth. They saw their entire lifetime long before they ever took human form. We also have to keep in mind that God endows all human beings with free will. Hitler and his men used their free will to torture and murder millions; we the targets of his hatred, however, failed to exercise ours. Or more precisely, we failed to use our free will to do the right thing. We chose fear over courage; cowardice over rebellion. Instead of fighting, questioning or resisting, we got used to being the world’s scapegoats and figured, ‘It won’t be so bad.’
We could not have been more wrong.
“Instead of seizing the chance to confront evil as God wanted us to do, we simply went along with it. Even if the end result had been the same, the lesson we learned in that lifetime is that it’s far nobler to go down with a fight than to become submissive sheep, easily led to slaughter.
“If only we had banded together and used common sense, we might have been able to save ourselves. By choosing to meekly obey the Nazis and forget that we are also children of the One Creator worthy of dignity, respect and life, we failed the test for that incarnation. God challenged us and we fell short.”
After pondering his grandfather’s words, Eyal asks another valid question:
“Saba, have any of these souls who were once Nazis reincarnated since then?”
“Oh yes Eyal,” he answered confidently. “Depending on where they were in their own development, some of these former Nazi souls came back in the next lifetime as sick, homeless Haitians to make up for what they’d done. Others opted to return as religious fanatics—suicide-bombing Islamists in one lifetime, rigid orthodox Rabbis in another. Remember, life is an eternal opportunity to learn, grow, repent and move closer to God. The cycle is endless.”
Unlike many who believe in reincarnation today, I am not espousing moral relativism: far from it. Evil is evil and must be confronted, defeated and atoned for by those who commit it. That may be another reason why people who believe in individual liberty and limited government take issue with the concept of reincarnation. But for me it’s about understanding why God allows ten percent of the population of incarnated human souls to come to earth truly demented. It’s to teach the rest of us a lesson about standing up to evil and doing the right thing. For those souls who commit heinous crimes against humanity, in addition to an earthly punishment (I’ll post about my concept of a fair justice system soon), they also reincarnate under very dire, lowly and challenging circumstances, e.g. as a homeless person in the next lifetime to truly make reconciliation and understand why their actions were wrong.
Due to an unforeseen circumstance, I was unable to appear on Just Believe with Lisa Tarves to discuss Steps To Salvation. However, Daria did an excellent job of representing me on the radio. Click below to listen to the interview.
Thank you Lisa, for the opportunity!
I talked to Daria Anne, my ghostwriter, on Writestream Radio about Steps To Salvation. For me there’s a bit of a challenge in that readers who will like my book’s political themes may not like its spirituality and the concept of The One God Religion. On the other hand, those who embrace the concept of One God For All might not necessarily like the politics.
We had a good discussion about the book. If you missed the interview, click below to listen.
